Evidence-based scientific research is the bedrock of advances in medicine. We at Wound and Burn Centers of America believe it is our moral obligation to play our part and foster the next generation of scientific minds. To that end, we extend the Wound and Burn Centers of America Research Grant to medical students keen on specializing in wound healing.
Wound and Burn Centers of America Research Grant
Wound and Burn Centers of America Research Grant is a one-year, $5,000 grant awarded to medical students with a strong interest in wound healing. This grant aims to encourage young investigators to design and conduct original research to address current challenges in our field and to empower awardees to make strides early in their careers.
Eligibility, Application Requirements, and Selection Process:
- Letter of Intent
- Current Curriculum Vitae
- Letter of Recommendation from Dean of Medical School
- Recent Photo
- Applicants must be active/current medical students in good standing
- Interested applicants must submit a research proposal addressing one of the following topics: Complex Wound Healing, Burn Injuries, Scar Prevention and Management, Limb Preservation, Laser Therapy, or Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
- The top five applicants will be selected for further consideration and will be responsible for promoting their entries within their social media networks by encouraging their followers to like or share their proposals. Applicants will eventually be judged on the scientific merits of their proposals and the amount of social media “buzz” their proposals generate.

Restricted Grant
The Research Grant is restricted because it is intended and designated solely for salary support or direct research expenses. No part of the award may be used for indirect costs or the support of routine school-related duties.
Digital Rights Agreement
The applicant agrees that the awarded research proposal will become the sole property of Wound and Burn Centers of America and may be used by Wound and Burn Centers of America in any way that Wound and Burn Centers of America may deem appropriate in its sole discretion, including but not limited to its use in marketing efforts without notification.
